We will help your children complete their homework properly and efficiently. They will not come home confused, and you will see more academic confidence and higher grades!
Our process is simple to explain but difficult to implement (at least outside Lafayette Academy):
- Each session begins with a review of your child’s (“Jack”) recent performance and current grade.
- Our tutor (“Jill”) identifies Jack’s problem areas upfront so she can plan today’s agenda. This varies with each tutoring session depending on Jack’s specific needs.
- Jill will patiently explain a topic until she’s confident that Jack gets it.
- Then, she will watch Jack solve a few problems to ensure that he can do the work on his own.
- Jill and Jack will use the same process to cover a few more topics.
- Then, Jill will watch Jack solve a variety of problems that require him to understand all of the topics that they have covered during the session.

- We have the best tutors. In addition to our many returning tutors, we have reviewed hundreds of resumes and interviewed dozens of candidates to add 12 new tutors this fall.
- Because we have the most tutors in each of our markets, we can find the best match for your child at the most convenient time for your schedule.
- Our tutors and center directors will monitor your child’s progress EVERY week, and we won’t simply take his or her word for it.
- Our tutors incorporate study skills, test taking skills, and mentoring (when necessary) with subject-specific help. In some cases, the mentoring and study skills are more important than the subject-specific help. Our definition of “tutoring” includes all of these areas.
- Our facilities are relaxed and upbeat. Don’t underestimate how much this contributes to learning.
- In fact, students love coming to Lafayette Academy. Typically, over 75% of our students come because they were encouraged by one of their friends or siblings.
- We have all of the local textbooks and we are intimately familiar with each school’s curriculum. We have been in the area for 20 years (8 under our current owners).
Homework Help vs. Private Tutoring
Homework Help students come to Lafayette Academy 2 – 4 days a week (usually 3 or 4). Because homework help students come more often, our tutors can focus on that day’s homework and whatever topics the student needs to understand to complete that day’s homework. Private Tutoring students tend to come once or twice a week so our tutors need to cover more topics during each session. If a student is only coming once a week, we cannot afford to spend most of the session on that day’s homework.
Homework Help Subjects
- ALL LEVELS of K-12 Math, Science, History, Spanish, and Writing, including most AP and Honors courses. We also have strong programs for reading comprehension and middle school math.
Homework Help Fees
- $54/hour for one-on-one
- $44/hour/person for two or more students
The Fine Print
- A credit card is required for confirmation.
- If you cancel 24-hours before your appointment is scheduled to begin, you will avoid late fees. Otherwise, there is a $35 late cancellation fee. If you miss an appointment without calling us, you pay the full fee for the appointment.
- There are no contracts or minimum commitments required for homework help.
