Shadow Classes™

Shadow Classes™ are our HUGELY POPULAR small group tutoring sessions that “shadow” specific subjects at Acalanes, Campo, Las Lomas, Miramonte, Monte Vista, and San Ramon Valley. School and subject specific classes meet weekly and are guided by our expert, experienced tutors, most of whom are intimately familiar with each school’s curriculum.

Why do our families return to Shadow Classes year-after-year? It’s simple: Shadow Class students get higher grades. In fact, 91% of our Shadow Class students said that their grades were one or two letters higher thanks to our Shadow Classes!

We have classes each week in the following subjects:

SHADOW CLASSES™ EXPLAINED

Shadow Classes vary from week-to-week depending on what is happening in class at a given time. If there is an upcoming test, the instructors will focus on test preparation. If the students are covering a difficult chapter in school, the instructor will clearly explain the key topics. If the students are heading into a difficult topic, the instructor will preview the material.

Our gifted instructors couple the local textbooks with their exceptional knowledge to help students understand complicated topics. We have a variety of instructors including teachers, recent Cal graduates (who have worked with us for several years), current Cal students, young graduates on their way to medical school, and other professionals who moonlight at Lafayette Academy.

We typically have several classes each week for the most requested subjects. Still, we often add classes for small groups of students who want help with a different subject or cannot make any of our time slots.

Our instructors monitor student progress and mentor them when necessary.
