Back-To-School Classes

high school students

Overview
  • Lafayette Academy offers a wide variety of back-to-school classes to help your children catch up or get ahead.   Our classes are small and each student receives individual attention.  Your children will fill in their skill gaps from this year and get ready for next year. They'll also love our teachers, enjoy learning, and and feast on our free popcorn.

  • All of our experienced instructors are intimately familiar with the local curriculum so they know how to get your children ready for the fall.

  • We have classes for most subjects including ALL levels of Math, Writing, and Reading Comprehension.  Our high school classes include Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2/Trig, Pre-Calculus, Biology, AP Biology, Chemistry, Spanish 2 and 3, and Essay Writing. We also add classes based on your requests.

  • Most of our classes are offered on a weekly basis from Monday - Thursday, and they do NOT repeat material from previous weeks. Our high school writing classes are two weeks.  "Strategic Reading", our highly regarded reading comprehension program, is offered throughout the summer at times that are convenient for you.

  • We have brief course descriptions below with links to more information about our classes.

  • Our MASTER MATH (2nd - 5th) and MASTER MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH classes are personalized for each student based on an initial assessment. Our curriculum is aligned with state standards and benchmarks and, more importantly, the material that is taught in our local schools.

  • Our highly regarded reading comprehension and writing program, "STRATEGIC READING" helps children develop strong reading comprehension skills that lead to greater success in school, higher self-esteem, and less stress at home.

  • Our WRITING classes are taught by instructors who have worked with local students and know what is expected at each grade level.    We'll even give you a pre-class writing assignment to ensure that our classes are productive on day one. The writing classes typically have light homework assignments.

  • We have STUDY SKILLS classes for middle and high school students, including ORGANIZATIONAL BOOT CAMP an exciting study skills class that has been designed by Nancy Schubb, the President of the California Association of School Counselors. Nancy will also be teaching the July 27-30 and August 3-6 classes in Lafayette.

  • We have "GET READY" classes for a wide variety of high school subjects including Algebra, Geometry, Trig, Pre-Calculus, Biology, AP Biology, Chemistry, Spanish 2, and Spanish 3. These small classes prepare students to get off to a fast start next fall by filling in any skill gaps and previewing next year's classes.
