You will receive a confirmation email in just a few minutes. In the meantime, check out our exciting summer program. We have morning and afternoon classes in July and August for a wide variety of subjects including study skills, essay writing, and all levels of math.

We will help your children get off to fast, confident starts next fall. This is hugely important because our local schools move quickly, and we all know what happens when a child begins to lose confidence.

Lafayette Academy offers a wide variety of summer classes that help children get ready for next fall. Our classes are fun, effective, and taught by local teachers who are intimately familiar with the Lamorinda and San Ramon Valley curricula. Most classes are weekly and meet for one hour per day.

High School Class Descriptions

Excellent Essays

“Excellent Essays” teaches high school students how to write essays without the frustration and stress that often accompany high school assignments. This class includes strategies for critical thinking, brainstorming, structure, and editing. Excellent Essays covers different themes each session so students can come for several weeks to really polish their writing skills.

College Essays Workshops

Do you want your soon to be senior to get a head start on his or her college essays? This workshop series meets for two hours per day for a full week to help students start their college admissions essays. The program includes Lafayette Academy’s proprietary “college essays seminar” which helps each student write relevant and compelling essays. All of our workshop instructors have extensive experience working with college bound students on their admissions essays. Every participant will end the week with a minimum of three first drafts.

Math Subjects

We offer “Get Ready” classes for Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Alg. 2/Trig., and Pre-Calculus. Our classes are small and we ensure that the topics covered are relevant to each student. We fill important skill gaps from this year and preview next year’s topics. All of our instructors are intimately familiar with the local curriculum and know exactly what students need to know to get off to a fast start next year.

Organizational Boot Camp a.k.a. Study Skills

Our Study Skills program is for students who exhibit a connection between poor organizational skills and below-ability achievement. Students will learn how to study, take notes, prepare for tests, and take tests! This class also teaches students how to get and stay organized, and manage time. Great study and test-taking skills lead to higher grades and academic self-esteem.

Spanish

Our Spanish classes fill in foundational gaps from previous years and preview topics for next year to ensure that students are more than ready for Spanish in the fall. Our Spanish instructors have been tutoring local students for several years and know exactly what your child needs to successfully start the new school year.

AP History

Get ready for AP European and AP U.S. History. Our classes are small and we ensure that the topics covered are relevant to all students. Our AP History classes help students organize their summer reading requirements and teach strategies that can be applied to the voluminous amount of reading that they will face next fall.

Science

Get ready for either Biology or Chemistry. Our classes are small and we ensure that the topics covered are relevant to all students. These classes preview next year’s topics, particularly ones that challenge students at the beginning of the year. As always, our instructors are intimately familiar with the local curriculum and will help your child feel confident and prepared for the school year.
